About Ambrosia Bead Company
Ambrosia
Bead Company was opened in June 2003 by Debbie Hunter, an
avid bead maker and jewelry designer. After 13 years of creating
one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces for herself and friends, Debbie
found that what she really wanted to do was open her own bead
store. Now Debbie shares her love of beading with everyone
who visits Ambrosia.
The original 375 square foot shop opened in an old converted
fruit warehouse in Yakima, Washington. Soon after the initial
opening, we had two rapid expansions to larger spaces. With
the continued growth in business and the desire to incorporate
a metalsmithing
workshop we moved in May 2007 to the new location, just
west of the previous shop.
Soothing neutrals in the design ensure that the beads provide
all the color. Layout and lighting received special attention
so that "butt-bumping" isn't a problem for customers
and the lighting is excellent. Every single display has been
laid out in the same color scheme from clear to black.
We've done everything we can to provide a comfortable atmosphere
to shop in, but what we really focus on is customer service.
Our customers appreciate our individual attention to their
search for the perfect beads, so we often hear "Thank
you for all your help" from our customers. We often hear
"This is the nicest bead store I've ever been to"
from our out-of-town customers — even the ones from
back east— so we're pleased that experienced beaders
enjoy their visit to Ambrosia Bead Company.
Customers travel to Ambrosia Bead from all over Central Washington,
attracted by the huge inventory of merchandise to choose from,
the friendly atmosphere, and great customer service. While
the majority of our customers live in the Yakima area, we
have regular visits from beading enthusiasts who live in Spokane,
Wenatchee, Ellensburg, the lower Yakima Valley, and the Tri-Cities.
**Did you know Ambrosia means "Food of the Gods"?
I thought it was an appropriate name for a bead store!
